Brand got introduced in 1971 by TEKEL to celebrate the 900^th anniversary of the battle at Manzikert (Malazgirt) where the from Persia coming Seljuq's leaded by Sultan Alp Arslan (see picture inside the zero) won a big victory against the Byzantine Empire. Since Alp Arslan's army got as well joined by local Turks, Turkmens and Kurds todays Turkey celebrates this victory as the first step on their way to an own Turkish country.
