Brand got introduced in 1899 by BLACK BUTLER COMPANY at London. In 1907 the US branch called BUTLER & BUTLER TOBACCO COMPANY at New York becomes part of THE AMERICAN TOBACCO COMPANY. It's not sure if the English company became part of ROTHMANS, but ROTHMANS started to procuce them in 1900. That's why there have been 2 different PALL MALL brands until 1999 when BRITISH AMERICAN TOBACCO and ROTHMANS merged.

The name PALL MALL stands for a fashionable London street where in the 18th century "pall-mall" (a precurser to croquet) was played.

Was in 1939 the first King-Size cigarette.
